Apart from having
a wonderful beach, this area is important as it was the site of the first
European settlement on Lanzarote, by Spanish explorers in 1402, before
it was destroyed by English pirates in the late 1500s and never rebuilt.
These days archaeological excavations are revealing some of the remains.
